Hello — I am going to the Arctic Circle
W jej własnej angielszczyźnie. Nietłumaczone.
Hello,
I decided to challenge myself again. This time I am leaving for the Arctic Circle (Canada) to run 350 mile (560km).
The Arctic Lands have extremely cold and long winters, with temperatures often dipping to -60oF (-50oC). Arctic blizzards and whiteouts frequently punctuate the winter weather. The area lies north of the tree line and there is no protection from the arctic wind.
While running, I will have to pull a sled with all my food and survival gear. I will have to melt the snow to get water and cook my own meals. I bet many of you would enjoy the race diet "all you can eat and eat a lot". I should consume approx. 5, 000 cal/day to produce enough energy to keep me warm and running.
Therefore, I have a proposal: if you enjoy eating or you eat a lot, please join me in this race. If, on the other hand, you think joining me in this Arctic Race would drift a little from your daily lifestyle, please consider a donation for the Memory4Life campaign against Alzheimer's disease on my behalf. I am lucky to have my memory to keep me company on my long journey. Many others are not so fortunate. No donation is too small or too big. All contributions are greatly appreciated. Please see the attached flyer.
FYI, all money goes to the Alzheimer's Association. All expenses involved in my race are paid solely by me.
If you have access to the Internet you can view my progress (with a big delay) on www.6633ultra.com. The number 6633 stands for the Arctic Circle latitude.
Thank you so much, Alicja Barahona sahararunner@yahoo.com
