Update (3/18/2011) – Ali’s Arctic Challenge

Less than 3 weeks left for my Arctic Challenge run. It's not easy to train for sub-zero temperatures when the birds are cheerfully singing 'spring, spring, spring is here’. If you don't feel like scrolling down for more info about my Arctic Challenge run here are some key points: I will run close to 240 miles (near 400km) on the Ice Road (the frozen Mackenzie River, NWT, Canada). Starting in Inuvik, 120 miles (200km) north from the Arctic Circle, I will continue running to Tuktoyaktuk (shore of the Arctic Ocean) and back to Inuvik. There is no shelter and no place to hide between these two communities...just ice, snow, constant whiteness, flat terrain with out any marking points, sub-zero temperatures, and maybe even polar bears...I hope NOT!

This is a fundraising run for the Inuvik Homeless Shelter that provides a protective place and meals for those in need.

Can you imagine being homeless in -40°F/C temperature?! Can you imagine being there running and pulling a sled in these sub-zero temperatures? If your answers are NO, please show your support by: Here's the link directly to the donate page . The "Donate" button is at the bottom of the page or you can send a cheque to the Inuvik Homeless Shelter at P.O. Box 2530, Inuvik, NT, Canada, X0E 0T0. 100% of all donations go to the shelter.

If your answer is YES, please come and join me in the run on the Ice Road there. This fundraising run is for a serious matter and we should do everything to help these people who need protection from the environmental elements.

"We all benefit from being kind to each other."
